The first music pick of every month in my blog come from recommendations made in this thread (and elsewhere). If you'd like a chance to win, or if you'd just like to share some awesome music, post here.
I tend to stay up way too late most nights and lose sleep. FUN TIMES. But, it's usually because I'm screwing around on the internet. One of the ways in which I screw around on the internet late at night -- besides this forum -- is by spending way too much time trying to find new music on YouTube and iTunes.
Most of what I listen to can be defined as Alt Rock, Indie, 90s, and electronic. So yeah, mostly rock. But that doesn't mean I don't like other things or will chastize you for posting other genres.
So, every time I end up spending one of these nights I should be sleeping screwing around finding music, I'll share some of it here. I'll try and post two songs. One that's maybe more known or mainstream and one that's from a group that's not as widely known. In the event that I can't find anything good, I reserve the right to just go to the well and post something like the Clash or Foo Fighters or whatever band/song you've heard a million times but is still awesome.
Tonight's picks:
Mainstream song you've heard but you have to admit is great:
Lonely Boy by the Black Keys
Yeah it's all over the radio and is going to be overplayed in about six minutes but whatever stfu it's a great song. Until it's inevitably ruined.
Song that's awesome and I bet you haven't heard:
Little Talks by Of Monsters and Men.

OMG PORCUPINE TREE! You WOULD be the only other person I know who's heard of them. The lead dude from that group did an ambient/experimental album I quite like called Bass Communion.
Anyway, I'll go and actually listen to the song now.
The Flashbulb is really good too. I don't really know a great representative song since I usually just listen to an album all the way through, so this was the first YouTube hit, which is actually a really nice video:
